Cine film digitisation

Max provides a full range of cine film digitisation services for all types of formats including standard 8mm, Super 8, 9.5mm, 16mm, S-16mm, 35mm and S-35mm. Our services include the digitisation and restoration of associated soundtracks.

We have the expertise to help you navigate the often complex process of transferring photo-chemical film originals into a digital format. We provide expert advice on the best practices in digitisation, storage, restoration and presentation.

For long-term archival purposes there are many technical issues to take into consideration. These include the use of open-source formats (e.g. DPX, JPEG-2000, etc) that do not rely on commercial ownership, and translation from one format to another to preserve image accuracy aspect ratios, original grain quality, running speed, colour gamut and density.

We offer frame by frame scanning at 2K and 4K film resolution to provide the highest possible quality digital output.

Collections where we have digitised cine film include:

News International
King's College London
Scout Association
Manx Heritage Centre
IET (Institute of Engineering & Technology)
MCC (Marylebone Cricket Club)
National Theatre
